Cannot save changes to strand setup

When I make changes in the strand setup window and I close the strand module and then open the module the changes are not there. I cannot find anywhere to save the changes. What am I doing wrong?

This doesn't sound right.
What /exactly/ are the steps you are performing?

Focus main/Modules/Strand/Setup/Edit then I make changes to the Strand Setup and click "OK"...the changes are not saved when I unload the module.

I have just found out that I have the same problem with editing design specs:
Focus main/Modules/Design/Setup/Open Spec File/[spec file]/Devices/ then I create a device file and in the window the "update" button is grayed out and is not functional so I cannot save any changes.

I am using a stand alone computer running Windows XP without any clients. I am getting the following errors:

On computer bootup I get a windows error - "Oracle service controller encountered a problem and needs to close". Every time I start FOCUSOne and open a project I get "The listener/tnsnames files are not set up correctly. No client machine can connect to the server.

I have been able to draft about 7 miles of strand and can run a BOM on it so it seems the database is working.

That does sound odd.
I assume that you installed the "server" version of FOCUSOne on this machine, yes?
This might warrant submitting a trouble ticket to Bentley.
Let us know the outcome.

Yes I did install the server version...I just visited my potential customers office and their Focus 95 and FocusBD are doing the same thing.....the update button is grayed out and you cannot save changes....they didn't know that themselves because they have never had to change the spec files.

Not sure what is happening with the strand specs. However, in 98 the strand specs there is not a dialog box to edit the specs. The .ucm files in the project directory are your strand specs. They can be edited with a text editor.

To edit the design spec file you need to click the New/Edit in the upper left corner of the dialog, and select the model you want to edit or select NEW MODEL for additional devices. Your UPDATE button should not be grayed out now.
